Abstract:
In recent years, chloroplast genome data have been widely used to address issues in plant phylogenetics and the identification of traditional Chinese medicine materials. However, the current curriculum system for traditional Chinese medicine resources majors in higher education institutions in China lacks theoretical and practical teaching segments related to chloroplast genomics. In the experimental teaching of traditional Chinese medicine resources majors at China Pharmaceutical University,second-generation DNA sequencing data are utilized to conduct teaching activities related to the assembly, annotation, and phylogenetic analysis of chloroplast genomes.Practice has shown that incorporating chloroplast genome experiments into teaching helps students gain a deep understanding of the application of bioinformatics in the development of traditional Chinese medicine resources and enhances their skills in biological statistical analysis.
