Abstract: Peer role models play a uniquely influential guiding force on college students.Effectively leveraging these role model resources for moral education and career planning facilitates the holistic development of students' "informed intentions and actions." Drawing on grounded theory and using a representative case of a peer role model,this study conducted interviews with both the exemplary individual and other students from the same institution.The research reveals the underlying mechanisms of the peer role model effect and,based on these findings,proposes several recommendations: fostering a campus environment conducive to the emergence and reverence of role models;establishing a robust publicity mechanism for discovering and curating exemplary cases;strengthening continued education and development for peer role models;and building a campus cultural system that supports the cultivation and effectiveness of role models.
