Abstract:
The implementation and outcomes of using historical drama as a pedagogical approach in the course An Outline of Modern Chinese History are plagued by several critical challenges including repetitive and homogeneous topic selection, imitation or plagiarism of scripts, inadequate pre-production preparation,poor-quality post-editing,and insufficient funding. To address these issues, targeted measures should be adopted in alignment with students' academic disciplines and institutional contexts.Strategies include integrating historical themes with professional expertise through a historical lens;leveraging regional historical culture—especially revolutionary red heritage;and incorporating differentiated contributions from group members as a core grading criterion.Cultivating genuine interest and achieving practical relevance are essential for enhancing student engagement in practice-based learning, which also constitutes a crucial aspect of the ongoing reform in ideological and political education.
